Fragile Equality : review on Ponto Zero website

Here a partial and bad translation (sorry...) of a new Fragile Equality's review published on the site Brazilian Ponto Zero:

Note : 9/10

Second solo Cd of the project of Edu Falaschi (no longer a project but now a band), entitled Fragile Equality, launched by JVC in Asia, AFM in Europe and Laser Company in Brazil, shows a still unknown versatile facet of the musicians who have joined the new line-up of the band Almah. world famous as the singer of Angra, those who believe that Edu follows the same way with this band, are wrong, the band has more weight and explore more kinds of music.
The CD is mixing lots of influences, Heavy, power, trash and prog metal, in a perfect balance for each music and vocal line. Lots of different vocal lines, as never before in their work, there is a change from the first CD, not only in voice but also in the instruments, in the lyrics, production and promotion. So that's why the first pressing was exhausted at the Expomusic 2008 in only one day. With a lot of harmonized solos for guitars, loud bass and big rythms drum well diversified, Fragile Equality found thanks to its former fans but also to those who don't know the band's work.
The lyrics touches everyone, speaking of balance in all aspects of our life, are going with by an optimism without equal, and all the lyrics are written by the founder of the band.
[...]
Fragile is undoubtedly a big production, a CD that must be listened carefully to hear every detail thought out and chosen.
[...]
With certainty, many will be surprised to hear of the new work of Almah, more diverse and more authentic than ever.

Edu Falaschi : interview for the Greek metal site "Metal Temple"

Edu gave an interview for the Greek Metal site "Metal Temple", published today :

Dimitris :Hi Edu, how are you?

Edu Falaschi : Hi Dimitris. I have got the flu so my voice is a little bit strange. I hope that you will manage to understand me.

Dimitris : That’s bad but I think I can understand you just fine. So, I will try to be quick and leave you to rest. How the idea about ALMAH was born?

Edu Falaschi : Actually, it was in 2006 when I decided to release a solo album so ALMAH was born as a side project. You know, I was getting really tired with all the problems we had in ANGRA and especially with the manager. I needed something to do something new and do a solo album. So, I invited some friends Emppu (Vuorinen from NIGHT WISH), Lauri (Porra from STRATOVARIUS) and Casey (Grillo from KAMELOT) to record this album and this went fantastic. But this was a project work. In July of 2007, ANGRA needed to stop because the problems became too serious. But I did not want to stop and just play video games (laughs). Music is my life so I need to record albums and play live. So, I was talking to Felipe (Andreoli bass in ANGRA) and we decided to do something with ALMAH but now as a full time band.

Dimitris : How did you form the lineup?

Edu Falaschi :Well, we wanted musicians from Brazil because we needed to find time to rehearse and compose the new album. So, we found three very good musicians and made the lineup of ALMAH. Actually the two guitar players are the best in Brazil apart from Kiko and Rafael of course.

Dimitris : What are the differences between the first and the second ALMAH album?

Edu Falaschi : Well, the first one was completely composed by me. Of course, I gave space to the others guys but it was mainly my work. This one is the product of team work. I needed this time guitarists to add their own ideas because after all I am not that good guitar player myself (laughs). So, I recorded the vocal melodies and let the guitarist do their own stuff.

Dimitris : What are the lyrics about? I had read that "Fragile Equality" is actually based on a book.

Edu Falaschi : Yeah the lyrics are based on this book. It is a fiction story that talks about the balance in life. The balance we need to find to keep living and eventually be happy. For example, we need a balance in relationships to keep this going, in a band to keep everyone happy and make it work. The album is like a soundtrack to this book that is made in manga style that is really famous here in Brazil. Inside the book there will be a CD that will contain just the music of the album without the lyrics so you can really use it as a soundtrack or even as karaoke to sing along.

Dimitris :Will the book and the CD be released together or are you planning to make a special edition out of it?

Edu Falaschi :First, the CD will be released and this has already been done in Brazil and Japan. In October, the CD will get to the rest of the world and the book will be released only in Brazil in December. Next year the book will come to Europe and Japan translated in English. After all these maybe there will be a special edition that will have the CD and the book as you said.

Edu Falaschi : interview on Rock Underground

Here a translation (a bad translation, I'm so sorry for my bad English !) of an Edu Falaschi's interview on Rock Underground website !

Almah: the bestalbum of the Edu Falaschi 's career !

RU: Well talking about the new Almah' album. It is very different from the first. When I interviewed you in 2006, when the output of Aurora Consurgens Angra (...), Almah emerged almost simultaneously. You said that in Almah there were lots of things you could not do in Angra, as hard rock, prog, influences of the 70s and even pop. But I don't see any pop influence in Fragile Equality. Would there be a change of direction since, Angra was your main group and Almah only a parallel project.

Edu Falaschi: That's right! At that moment I was taken to 100% by Angra which was my main group, Almah was a solo album, in which I wanted to do everything that I couldn't do in Angra, these styles as you mentioned. Anyone who recorded the CD were international guests: Casey Grillo (D / Kamelot), Lauri Porres (B / Stratovarius) and Emppu Vuorinen (G / Nightwish). It was therefore a solo album, a parallel project. Now Almah is my main band.

RU : What's the impact of the album?

Edu Falaschi: It's a bomb! All reviews have been very positive! many people have said that this album was a "masterpiece" . Others have said that new rediscover the Power Metal, in a different style. Still others say that Fragile Equality is the best work I made since I'm in Angra, others say it is the best of my career, overtook what I did with Angra. I 'm a little scared of that, statements of the press, friends or people, media and fans, I have even more responsibility.

RU: Edu, I have not yet written thereview, but I listened to thealbum for this interview and also by curiosity. I agree that when I received Almah in 2006, I had not many expectations, but when I received Fragile Equality, I really want to hear, and that 's what I've done! And I can tell you that is the best work of your career, better than all the albums you've done with Angra, no doubt! I also found it was a different heavy metal, leaving the complexity of Angra and the hackneyed melodic metal. Despite the fact that it is very technical, it is very direct, as were the first albums of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, for example, they were technical, but direct. This album is one of the best I have heard in recent months, and yet I listen to almost one hundred new products each month!

Edu Falaschi: Thank you! It is true that it is very direct, it was my idea. I can never discredit the Angra's music, a music more complex, technical, full of Brazilian influences and orchestrations. Angra music is not meant to be direct, it is one of these characteristics. But I also want to do this kind of music, more direct.

RU: This new album isn't composed by you alone, but by all the band?

Edu Falaschi: yes. The band is now me on vocals, Marcelo Barbosa and Paulo Schroebr on guitars, Felipe Andreoli on bass and Marcelo Moreira on drums. I have a great desire with this line-up, which is for me the best line-up possible to have in a band.

RU: It's the definitive Almah line-up ?

Edu Falaschi: yes. Obviously, I can't say that there will be no changes, we don't know the future but now, everyone is happy in Almah.

RU : What is the concept of Fragile Equality?

Edu Falaschi: Look around you, we talk a lot about this fragile balance, the limit is tenuous, balance is an over chaos, that's what we talk about the physical part of the universe. But we don"t want just to discuss this with the lyrics, but also musically. It is useless to talk about one thing if music and instrumental line contradicts the rest!

RU : I have seen that. I would ask you if this balance was intentional. The album is various. There are 2 pieces , traditional power metal "Birds of Prey" and Torn. " Magic Flame" and Meaningless World "are pieces of pure melodic power metal. "Beyound Tomorrow" and "You'll Understand" are more progressive, chaotic, although heavy, aggressive, almost trash. In these songs, there's the technical virtuosity with the weight of trash. In addition to these pieces, there are two ballads: "Shade Of My Soul" and "All I Am". Invisible Cage has elements of Brazilian and Fragile Equality is more modern, (...) The choice of these pieces is rational?

Edu Falaschi: Guy, I gave interviews around the world about this album and you are the first to have seen that! Yesi, I wanted this balance! This is intentional, is the subject. In addition to talking about the subject of the fragility of the balance, we wanted to do more with this album : we wanted that the auditor has a feeling of the concept, not just a reading of lyrics. You killed what we wanted to do!

The rest of the interview is about Angra ( but there's nothing new!)

French reviews of Fragile Equality

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

If you want to read the first frenc reviews of Fragile Equality, go on Metal Spirit and Heavylaw websites !

10 days more to wait before the release ....

I give you a bad translation (sorry for my English...) of the Heavylaw review ....

Line-up :
Edu Falaschi : vocals
Felipe Andreoli : bass
Paulo Schroeber : guitar
Marcelo Barbosa : guitar
Marcelo Moreira : drums

Label : AFM RECORDS

Release : 17 octobre 2008

Note : 10/10

Two years after the release of his first album, Almah released his second album “Fragile
Equality”.
Almah, now a real band and not only the solo project of Eduardo Falaschi, Angra’s singer,
has a new line-up 100% made in Brazil, with of course Edu Falaschi (Angra ) on vocals,
Felipe Andreoli (Angra) on bass, Paulo Schroeber (cover Pantera) and Marcelo Barbosa
(Khallice) on guitars and Marcelo Moreira (Burning In Hell) on drums.
If the artwork signed Gustavo Sazes is beautiful, the album signed by our five Brazilian is
too!
A power metal of very high quality, fresh, filled with new sounds, with compositions of a
very high technical level that does not leave aside melodies and emotions, and very, very
talented musicians! The two guitarists Paulo Schroeber / Marcelo Barbosa are awesome,
Felipe Andreoli on bass is excellent, Marcelo Moreira with his accurate and powerful touch is
brilliant in its creativity! And what about Edu falaschi ‘s voice, awesome and makes us go
through a pallette of emotions!
Fragile Equality begins with a piece of pure power metal "Birds of Prey" with great riffs and
crazy solo, continues with a symphonic anthem "Beyound Tomorrow" with a magnificent
chorus (so great in live! ), followed by "Magic Flame" masterpiece of speed metal symphonic.
The ballad "All I Am", with its poignancy chorus, appeasing before the resumption of
hostilities with "You'll Understand," a very progressive title. Then the semi-ballad "Invisible
Cage", with its Brazilian rythms fusions admirably with the two guitarists riffs!
We are entering another dimension with the title "Fragile Equality" very speed, with Edu
Falaschi singing very aggressive, almost trash and a great and very experimental solo! The
title "Torn" is surprising: very aggressive, with an awesome vocal line, which makes me think
of the eighties and a chorus very modern and yet another trash elements inclusion! "Shade Of
My Soul", the second ballad of the album is very beautiful, soothing, with again an Edu’s
voice very impressive.

The album ends as it began, with a piece of Power metal, which can think of Nova Era (Angra
song composed by Edu Falaschi), but even richer and more powerful!
Fragile Equality is an album of very high quality, very varied, with many influences, sound
and production are enormous, a real heavy metal lesson!
The only blame is that the album lasts 47 minutes but we want more!
To listen absolutely!
